Description
Despite roaming Australia for 15 million years, their future is uncertain. Since European settlement, many species have faced extinction or decline due to habitat loss and human encroachment. Kangaroos also face fatal disease outbreaks, and the long-term effects of climate change on their survival remain unknown.
Habitat:
Red kangaroos inhabit the arid and semi-arid plains and woodlands of Central Australia, grazing on grasses, shrubs, and green herbage. Found across most of central mainland Australia, they prefer open plains with less than 500 mm of annual rainfall and some scattered trees for shelter.
